At least 24 people are dead and more than 20 girls who attend a summer camp are not justified for after months of heavy rainfall in a matter of hours in Texas on Friday.
Search teams conducted rescues from Boot and Helicopter in the fast -moving flood waters while members of the public went to social media, desperately looking for information about loved ones in the area.
During a press conference at the end of Friday, Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said that 24 people were murdered. Authorities said that 237 people had been taken back so far, including 167 per helicopter.
The news follows at least 25 cm of rain that flowed into the center of Kerr County at night, causing a flash flow of a nearby river.
“Some are adults, some are children,” said Texan lieutenant -governor than Patrick, “again, we don't know where those bodies came from.”
Teams carried out dozens of saves, and care providers continued to look for those who were not justified. That includes more than 20 girls who miss in summer camps.
The missing children went to a Christian camp along the Guadalupe River.
According to Patrick, helicopters, nine rescue teams and people on the ground perform a huge search. He says the search will continue at night.
“I ask the people of Texas, do this afternoon seriously to pray. On-Your-Kernees pray a bit that we find these young girls,” said Patrick, who added that the number of confirmed deaths is expected to change in the coming hours.
A local flood guard on Thursday estimated quantities of up to 17 cm rising water, but that shifted to a flood warning for at least 30,000 people at night.
Governor Greg Abbot of Texas said that the State provided resources to communities that deal with the floods.
US President Donald Trump described the floods as “shocking” and “terrible” for reporters on Friday.
