Apple (AAPL) is launching its iOS 18.2 update today. Some features in the update include ChatGPT integration into Siri and creating your own emojis.
Ben Bajarin, CEO and lead analyst of Creative Strategies, talks to Asking for a Trend Anchor Josh Lipton about how the new iOS update could impact iPhone demand and sales.
“I think the term supercycle is being thrown around,” Bajarin says. “I mean, I still strongly believe that hardware changes and design changes are driving those super cycles, not software. I still think this is going to be a stronger than normal upgrade cycle just because we know this is an aging foundation. “
Bajarin set out to talk about Apple's partnership with Sam Altman's OpenAI, the company developing ChatGPT.
“I think OpenAI is not Google. In no way are they recognized by their brand or used as much as Google,” Bajarin says. “So you could see the differences of this deal between Google for search and ChatGPT and OpenAI for other features.”
