Costco is expanding and has announced six new locations that will open in early 2025.
The membership warehouse giant will surpass 900 locations worldwide with the new additions, expected to open in March 2025.
Two of the new stores will be in Texas and two in California, a state where Costco opened its 897th store in Pleasanton on Nov. 27, where people camped out to be among the first to get in. The Pleasanton opening set a new Costco mark for the highest ever opening day sales for a U.S. warehouse of $2.9 million, CEO Ron Vachris said earlier this month during a Dec. 12 call with investment analysts.

The company plans to open 29 new locations during fiscal 2025, which runs through August 31, 2025. Of those, 26 will be new buildings and three will be relocations. Ten of the new locations will be outside the U.S., Vachris said earlier this month.
During the first quarter of the company's fiscal year 2025, a three-month period ending Nov. 24, Costco opened seven new buildings — four outside the U.S. — one of which was a move from a previous store location, he said.
After Costco raised membership prices in September for the first time since 2017, the price of an annual Costco membership increased from $60 to $65 for Gold Star memberships in the United States and Canada, while executive memberships increased from $120 to $130, with the maximum annual reward of 2%. in connection with executive branch membership increasing from $1,000 to $1,250.
Membership fee revenue rose 7.6% in the first quarter of the company's fiscal 2025 year ended Nov. 24, reaching $1.17 billion, compared to $1.08 billion a year ago, the company said.
Costco has 77.4 million paid memberships, nearly half (47%) of which are executive memberships, the company said earlier this month.
The company also started rolling out scanners in warehouses this year, requiring members to scan their membership card to enter certain stores. And Costco is expected to stop selling books in most stores after the holiday shopping season.
