Traffic comes to a standstill on Capital City Freeway Sacramento as police investigate

    (FOX40.COM) — Traffic is at a standstill and lanes are closed on Capital City Freeway (Business 80) due to an ongoing investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol.

    Around 4 p.m., CHP responded to a scene on Businesses 80 (SB-51) south of the America River Bridge. Details about the incident are unclear, but police say they are investigating and avoiding the area. They also said there is “no threat to the motoring public.”

    Video footage shows several vehicles attempting to make a U-turn into oncoming traffic on the highway. Some commuters said they had been stuck in the same spot for almost an hour.

    Around 5 p.m., Caltrans announced the lanes had reopened, but commuters should still expect some traffic delays.
