Internet users have flooded a psychiatrist’s page with negative reviews after he spoke Monday in defense of Amber Heard in the Depp v. Heard trial for defamation.
As one of Heard’s witnesses, Virginia-based psychiatrist Dr. David R. Spiegel that Depp exhibits “behavior consistent with someone who has both substance use disorder and behavior of someone who commits intimate partner violence.” BBC.
According to NBC News, Depp’s lawyers argued against Spiegel’s ability to reach his conclusions without having had direct contact with the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star. Spiegel said he twice asked to speak to Depp, but was denied.
After his testimony, Spiegel’s page on the medical website WebMD was filled with one-star reviews, many of which pointed directly to the trial.
“Dr Spiegel needs a checkup after today’s performance! He looks and sounds like he’s the one who needs psychiatric help,” one person wrote in their one-star review.
“Called my friend Johnny a dumb pirate,” another person commented.
Likewise, Google was inundated with negative reviews for the psychiatrist on Monday, as noted by NBC News reporter Kat Tenbarge on Twitter†
The Google reviews seem to have scrubbed since then, with only three reviews from over two years ago.
Still, the psychiatrist seems to have a few adherents. In between all the negative reviews on WebMD, a few tried to stand up for him.
“All of these one-star reviews have nothing to do with patient care. They are views of viewers watching the Johnny Depp trial. Maybe find another place to vent your frustrations,” one commented.
