This post contains spoilers about a trailer, so be warned.
It’s the day before the anniversary of Mexico’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla, so that means it’s time for Star Wars celebrations. To honor the day, Disney has released a full trailer and poster art for the upcoming Obi-Wan show, which airs on Disney+ on May 27.
The six-part miniseries is set ten years after the Battle of Mustafar — perhaps celebrated on Coruscant with spicy tacos and drinks. Not that there’s any sign of such things in the new trailer. Instead, we see a bit of what Obi-Wan has been up to in the years since the fall of the Jedi and the rise of the Empire.
This isn’t our first look at the new show – Disney released a longer “teaser trailer” back in March.
The images of Obi-Wan watching young Luke and butting heads with Owen Lars resurface, and it’s clear that some of the Obi-Wan will take place on Tatooine. But if you think that Star Wars stories have to go elsewhere now and then, there’s good news: we’re also seeing how the Star Wars universe version of the neon lit streets of Tokyo looking moody at night in the rain.
The antagonists are the Jedi-hunting Inquisitors, who have been tasked by Emperor Palpatine to track down and exterminate all remaining adherents of that Hokey religion. And we get just a hint of everyone’s favorite junior Sith Lord, played by a returning Hayden Christensen.
