Nostradamus' predictions for 2025

The Seer of Seers is at it again

French astrologer Nostradamus has long been a trendy topic as the clock approaches midnight on New Year's Eve, with the prophet's predictions – while highly subjective and even more questionable – sparking massive curiosity for the year ahead.

Unfortunately, the quatrains aimed at 2025 are quite gloomy, bordering on chaotic.

    But alas, here they are…

War in England; the return of the plague

Last year, Nostradamus predicted torments among the royal family. Now he sees war in Britain and the bleak return of the plague.

“The kingdom will be marked by such brutal wars that enemies will arise from within and without. A great plague from the past returns, no enemy more deadly under heaven.”

    Conflicts in world politics

While not groundbreaking, the domestic and international political landscape of 2025 creates a bit of an on-the-nose scenario with such a prediction.

Nostradamus said that there would be “a decline in the influence of established Western countries and the rise of new world powers”.

A long war is coming to an end

Although Nostradamus' predictions lately have typically been of disaster full of destruction, this is rather the positive side.

The seer noted: 'A long war has exhausted the whole army, so that they cannot find money for the soldiers; instead of gold or silver they will coin leather, Gallic copper and the crescent sign of the moon.'

Could we see an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine next year – which started in 2022?

    End of the world

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV - APRIL 19: Las Vegas Astronomical Society vice president of special events Keith Caceres uses computer software connected to his telescope to locate asteroid 2014 JO25 outside the College of Southern Nevada Planetarium on April 19, 2017 in North -Las Vegas, Nevada. The nearly mile-long asteroid is traveling at a speed of 75,000 miles per hour as it passes through Earth's orbit nearly 1.1 million miles from Earth, less than five times the distance from Earth to the moon. Astronomers at the Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona discovered the asteroid in May 2014, as part of NASA's Near-Earth Object (NEO) Observations Program. It is a contact binary asteroid (two connected lobes of rock that were originally separated), giving it a peanut-like shape. It is the closest asteroid of this size to approach Earth since September 2004. (Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images)

While the war may be over, the good vibes will soon be crushed by the end of the world – courtesy of a giant asteroid.

Nostradamus wrote: “A fireball will rise from the cosmos, a harbinger of fate, the world pleads. Science and fate in a cosmic dance, the fate of the earth, a second chance.”

Clearly the seer overlooked the fact that we had a blueprint to stop such a catastrophe in the form of the 1998 hit 'Armageddon'.

Destruction and disasters in the Amazon

It is predicted that before the world ends, a climate disaster will hit Brazil through massive floods and volcanic eruptions.

Nostradamus noted: “Garden of the world near the new city, on the path of the hollow mountains: he will be seized and thrown into the tub, forced to drink water poisoned by sulfur.”

The rise and fall of Aquaman

Nostradamus took this a bit further, noting that a “mysterious leader” would rise to form an “aquatic empire.”

That prediction isn't a misprint, and we're not sure if he's referring to Jason Momoa and box office numbers or an actual water anomaly rising from the depths to take over the world — while probably starting a tequila brand and a podcast.

Well, we'll just have to wait and see – at least until the world ends.
