A fact-checking flashpoint that culminated in a full mic cut during the vice presidential debate set right-wing tempers on fire Tuesday night, with MAGA World residents tweeting their senseless outrage that CBS News had the audacity to silence J.D. Vance lay.
After moderator Margaret Brennan Vance, who spoke about illegal immigration, offered a correction that much of the Haitian community in Springfield, Ohio was in the country legally, Vance spoke about her.
As the Republican candidate tried to get into the details of the documentation needed to enter the United States, the network disabled both candidates' microphones.
“Gentlemen, the audience can't hear you because your microphones are turned off,” Brennan said with a tight smile. “Thank you for explaining the legal process.”
Vance seemed miffed and scoffed at the fact that “under the rules you guys wouldn't do a fact check.” (CBS stated as a basic rule that the microphones would be cut off if the crosstalk became too intense.)
But that was nothing compared to the meltdown that had already taken place online.
“F you CBS – how DARE YOU,” tweeted commentator Megyn Kelly.

Ann Coulter, the conservative media pundit and unwitting recipient of the toughest roast of all time, responded to journalist Mickey Kaus, who had tweeted that Vance had just missed an opportunity to kill Senator James Lankford's (R-OK) border bill.
“The bimbo moderators wouldn't have let him do that,” she spat.
Even former President Donald Trump, who posted live during the Truth Social debate, joined in on the fun.
“Maragret Brennan just lied again about the ILLEGAL MIGRATION let into our country by lying to Kamala Harris, and then she turned off JD's mic to keep him from correcting her!” he wrote.
