Moment when the German highway bridge is blown up in a controlled explosion

A major highway bridge near Dortmund, Germany, dating back to 1961, was blown up in a controlled explosion on Sunday, December 15.

Autobahn Westfalen said the 63-year-old bridge had significant deficiencies and was subject to loading restrictions for heavy trucks. Part of the bridge had already been rebuilt next to the old one.

The original date for the demolition was set for November 17, but technical problems forced it to be postponed until December, WDR reported.
