Pun intended by Danny Meyer, founder of Shake Shack (SHAK) and CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group, when he said on a recent episode of Opening Bid with Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi that Starbucks (SBUX) CEO Brian Niccol is a has a “great commission” for him; a witty reference to the smallest coffee cup and an incredibly large undertaking for the newest CEO. The legendary restaurateur explained that it is not necessarily beneficial to have every variant of a coffee available to his customers under the guise of 'saying yes' to good hospitality.
βThe average customer may have a diminishing good experience because of all the hospitality we provide by saying 'yes'… I guarantee Starbucks will find a way to say 'yes,' but they won't Promote all those alternatives like they once did. Because I think all those alternatives are worth it for the average person who just wants a strong coffee,β Meyer said.
