PARIS (Reuters) – The French Foreign Ministry last week summoned North Korea's general delegate to France to protest the deployment of his country's troops to Russia, warning there would be consequences.
“We are ready to respond strongly in coordination with our partners,” French Foreign Ministry spokesman Christophe Lemoine told reporters when asked if sanctions were on the table following North Korea's decision to deploy troops to strengthen Russia's war against Ukraine.
Lemoine said France had summoned North Korea's general delegate to France on October 28 and told him that such support for the Russian war would not go without a response.
France does not have diplomatic relations with North Korea, but the general delegate is accredited to UNESCO, the United Nations cultural agency, based in Paris.
